La Fragua | The Forge
During the month of June and the first week of July I spent some time in the small agricultral town of Belalcazar in the state of Cordoba in Spain. Here at La Fragua, situated at the Convento de Santa Clara I was lucky enough to be accepted to stay and make some work at this very beautiful place.
La Fragua (The Forge) is an amazing place to make work and the area surrounding the artist residency is amazing - quite, contemplative and a beautiful place only one hour and a half from Cordoba.
During my stay here I began to formulate my ideas involving pilgrimage and walking in the landscape, developing my ideas on The Pilgrim, spending many hours wandering around and getting lost in the beautiful countryside. Through this experience and meeting all the people there, I began to evolve my work about how we view the world around us, walking and taking notes, forming new ways of painting that bordered on the abstract.
Below is some of the work I did during my stay and which led to the work I follow today in my practice. I hope to return again in the future to spend more time with the wonderful people of Cordoba
